Dome Poem

The earth knows that many more nuclear bombs have been detonated upon her, within her, than Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

As much we use figures of speech to minimize their impact, calling them “tests.” They are not tests, but very much the real thing for the earth and for the people who could once live at the places where the bombs were detonated and their waste was left.

Who speaks for the earth? Who speaks for the oceans?

Mashallese poet Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner is speaking for them now with this moving video poem.
